Watch Out For Cyclists — And Everyone Making A Point!

March 16th, 2008 · No Comments

A friend sent me this great video today. As a cyclist, I’d encourage you all to take a look at it.

Now, without ruining the surprise and impact, let me make a communications point. How many of us are so busy watching big media outlets that we miss what our customers are telling us. Too many tools available to monitor social media outlets today are trying too hard to “rate” these outlets. Too often, that’s causing companies to miss problems. Comcast ignored the smaller bloggers complaining of BitTorrent shaping, then they denied it. Then the Associated Press did an article, and now they’re in the middle of FCC hearings on the matter.

Sometimes, sheer volume mandates some sort of screening. Too often, however, too many companies are choosing to simply ignore smaller voices. Don’t do it.
