Can You Be Too Obnoxious to Fly?

February 28th, 2008 · No Comments

Kudos to Southwest!
Two young laides recently caused a disturbance on a Southwest flight and ended up being arrested upon landing. The two culprits’ explanation? “They discriminated against us because we’re pretty.” I don’t even feel the need to comment on that “thought.”

What are you thinking, Comcast?

February 28th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Seems that Comcast paid people to attend an FCC hearing this week where some of the cable giant’s business practices were being investigated. Comcast fessed up, but said they did so because they wanted to hold seats for local employees who wished to attend.
Are you kidding?
Comcast has made some significant communications and public relations blunders [...]

Metzger Associates is a sponsor of this annual gathering, happening now in Beaver Creek, Colorado. John Metzger is there and checked in with these thoughts:
Venture capitalists from around the country are congregating in Beaver Creek this week, and radiating their risk capital into the Rocky Mountains. The 25th Annual Venture capital in the rockies conference [...]

February 26th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I remember some early comedy albums, and my parents were amazed. They didn’t have them. All forms of entertainment — including comedy — continue to evolve. To my mind, that’s a good thing.
This blog – Stuff White People Like — is another evolution of comedy. First, it’s really funny. Second, a generation ago, this would [...]

Thoughts from Regent Ludwig

February 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

Stephen Ludwig, a senior account executive here at Metzger Associates, also serves on the Board of Regents for the University of Colorado. The regents were recently in the spotlight during the search for a new president for CU. Bruce Benson, a notable Colorado Republican, was ultimately selected in a 6-3 vote two days ago, but [...]

One of the folks here at Metzger just said, “You know, it was far easier to go from Windows XP to my new Mac than it was to try to figure out Vista.”
Enough said!

Kudos to The Daily Camera

February 21st, 2008 · No Comments

Bruce Benson’s appointment as president of CU is obviously a big story in Boulder, Colorado, and the Daily Camera has been covering it closely. One of the best pieces we’ve found on the selection process yesterday was a video done by the Camera — a print outlet.
We often talk about how traditional media needs to [...]
